It just wasn't going to be the Boston Bruins' night.

A win away from advancing to the Eastern Conference Final for the second straight season, the Bruins squandered an opportunity and fell to the Montreal Canadiens 4-0 Monday night.

As the Bruins were attempting to muster anything to beat Carey Price (26 saves), they came within a fingernail of ruining the shutout in the third period. Zdeno Chara's shot from the point bounced off Price and up into the air before dropping right in the crease. It would have gone in were it not for the last-second heroics of David Desharnais:

Just a perfect sign that it was all going the way of the Canadiens.

Game 7s are common place when these two teams meet. Five of their last seven series have gone the distance. And given how Game 6 ended, with the usual Habs/Bruins shenanigans, Game 7 Wednesday night at TD Garden probably won't disappoint.
