Daniel Briere returns to Philadelphia Flyers in part-time management role

Daniel Briere retired from the NHL in August, but his time away from hockey didn’t last very long.

According to Randy Miller of NJ.com, Briere is now working a part-time gig with the Philadelphia Flyers, the team he played 364 of his 973 career games with. He didn’t divulge exactly what his role is, but Briere said he’s working in management under team president Paul Holmgren and will be doing a “variety of things.”

While contemplating his future over the summer, Briere said that he preferred signing with a team in the northeast to be closer to his three teenage sons. He'll now keep his 10-minute commute from his home in Haddonfield, N.J. to Philadelphia with this new job.

Briere is now the second ex-Flyer to recently find work again in hockey. Former head coach Craig Berube, who was fired in April, is now working for Hockey Canada as a scout in preparation for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, according to the Courier Post.
