Craig Anderson suffers injury vs. Rangers, but Senators fans can exhale (VIDEO)

Craig Anderson entered Thursday night’s game against the New York Rangers having gone 8-4-2 with a 1.57 GAA and an obscene .950 save percentage this season. It's not a stretch to call the Ottawa Senators goalie a candidate for both the Vezina and the Hart trophies this season.

But he left Thursday night’s game with a leg injury, leaving Senators fans still stunned by the season-ending injury to star defenseman Erik Karlsson reeling again (via Kukla):

As the video shows, it was Ottawa defenseman Marc Methot that took out Rangers forward Chris Kreider’s skates, sending the rookie into Anderson at a high velocity. Anderson was helped off the ice (with Methot under one arm), not putting any pressure on his right leg.

Scary times for Senators fans … but it appears they dodged a bullet.

Aaaannnnnd … exhale.

Would the Senators have been done if Anderson was hurt seriously? Ben Bishop (2.28 GAA in three games) and Robin Lehner (2.28 GAA in 31 games for the Binghamton Senators) aren’t exactly sieves.

But obviously, they’d rather have Craig Anderson, and it appears they will.
