Claude Giroux returns for Flyers after that golf injury

The Philadelphia Flyers announced on Tuesday that Claude Giroux will make his preseason debut against the New Jersey Devils, as his expedited recovery from that August (extraordinarily manly) golf injury continues.

Giroux wasn’t expected to miss any regular-season games with this right index finger injury, but there was a chance he could have missed the preseason. Instead, he’ll be in the middle of left wing Scott Hartnell and right wing Jake Voracek as the Flyers’ top line.

There was initial concern that he suffered a wrist injury, but that turned out to be wildly inaccurate.

He had 47 points in 48 games last season, following that breakout year with Jagr on his line in 2011-12 with 93 points. Hey, that sounds like the kind of player that Team Canada might want on its Olympic roster, as long as they’re over the fact that he missed their ball hockey game.
