Chronicles of Stanley: Blackhawks meet Meat Stanley Cup; Patrick Kane shimmies with Jimmy Buffett

The Chronicles of Stanley is an occasional series this summer that tracks the Chicago Blackhawks as they each get their special alone time with the Stanley Cup.

It’s been just over a week since the Blackhawks won their second Stanley Cup in four years. The individual player days with the Cup haven’t began just yet. Before that schedule begins, the Cup has been making random appearances in and around Chicago as the celebration continues.

On Monday, the Cup made a stop to “Windy City Live,” an afternoon talk show in Chicago with Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville and team owner Rocky Wirtz. After about eight minutes of small talk about the Cup victory, the hosts then introduced the two Blackhawks leaders to the all important Meat Stanley Cup, a replica that weighs approximately 35 lbs., close to the real weight of its metallic counterpart.

That’s pretty neat, but it doesn’t quite have the charm of the Hamley Cup…
