CBC’s Jim Hughson with the botched goal call of the playoffs (VIDEO)

Puck Daddy

According to CBC play by play man Jim Hughson, Chris Tanev of the Vancouver Canucks made the defensive play of the NHL postseason on Friday night, batting a Dustin Brown shot away with his glove as Roberto Luongo was down on the ice. Look at those silly Los Angeles Kings! Celebrating a shorthanded goal that was never scored!

According to the referee, emphatically pointing at the net … yeah, it was a goal for Dustin Brown late in the first period. Whoops.

Before intermission, Hughson said "the Kings knew the puck was in, the Canucks weren't sure", which wasn't exactly accurate either.

Later, NBCSN, simulcasting CBC, nearly missed the Canucks' first goal while in commercial ...

Happens to the best of them, for sure. Just make up for it by getting the winning team right, unlike here.
