Cam Ward robs Devils’ Henrique with incredible desperation glove save (Video)

Cam Ward returned from 10 games on the IR just 9 days ago, but despite the time away, the Carolina Hurricanes' net minder has shown few signs of rust. In his last outing, a 4-1 win over the Ottawa Senators, Ward made this incredible stick save on Colin Greening.

Wednesday night, he somehow managed to outdo that bit of thievery, robbing Adam Henrique late in the affair to preserve a two-goal Hurricanes lead. Feast your eyes on this incredible glove save:

Tough to blame Henrique on that one. Occasionally, when the goaltender is down and out like this, a shooter can be at fault for failing to get the puck up off the ice. Not so here. Henrique digs the puck out of traffic and then makes a slick little backhand, putting the puck into the air and looking like he's just released a surefire goal.

But Ward somehow manages to snag it. He drinks it up like a vengeful Daniel Plainview.

You know it's an amazing save, because the moment he takes the puck out of mid-air, every Devil in the frame slaps his forehead in a moment of disbelief. You can't get any closer than that.

The save would turn out to be a pretty big deal. Not long after Ward made it, Jaromir Jagr beat him to cut the lead in half. But that's as close as the Devils got, falling 4-3.

Brian Burke may be onto something with this Ward fellow. He gets pucks.
