Brutal hit in Swedish Elite League Final, complete with ref helmet-cam view (VIDEO)

Skellefteå and Brynäs are battling in the finals over in Elitserien, or the "Swedish Elite League" for those with a pronunciation phobia.

Tuesday's game featured this frightening moment, as Skellefteå forward Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, who had nine points in 12 playoff games, was demolished on a hit that made contact with his head by Brynäs defenseman Jorgen Sundqvist.

Sundqvist wasn't penalized. Skellefteå won the game, 3-2, on a goal by former Los Angeles Kings forward Oscar Moller.

That's Joakim Lindstrom, formerly of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Phoenix Coyotes, leading Bellemare to the bench as the Skellefteå forward kept tumbling to the ice. He did not return to the game, and was questionable for the teams' next game, although his coach said he wasn't concussed.

We mentioned "ref helmet-cam" in the headline: It's around the 1:25 mark of the clip, and gives you a sense of what these plays look like look in real time. From that angle, could the official correctly rule it a headshot?

But, unlike the four blind mice in Chicago last night, at least someone saw it.
