• Good to see Michael Myers from "Halloween" celebrating St. Paddy's Day. Always pegged him for a Flyers fan, however.

• St. Louis Blues right wing Chris Stewart, Ottawa Senators center Kyle Turris and Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky have been named the NHL's "Three Stars" for the week ending March 17. [NHL]

• LeBrun on what the San Jose Sharks should do at the deadline, including whether to trade Ryane Clowe: “Know this: Whatever the Sharks decide to do, they saw this day coming. They’ve been planning for a long time that they would need to refresh their roster around this time. • Jan Hejda on Milan Hejduk, and this potentially being his last season: “Last year he said it supposed to be his last season. I still persuade him. We will see how the management would persuade him. It is up to him. I think he has a big potential to score goals and he has the best shot of the team. It is hard to decide during the season. • Interesting look at Alex Ovechkin’s shot selection at even strength: “With the 2013 season quickly looking like one that will provide the Caps with ample opportunities to work on specific aspects of their game the rest of the way without having to worry about, y'know, winning, high on the list of priorities has to be figuring out how to get Ovechkin more scoring chances, whether he's carrying the puck or letting someone else do it - it could be a big part of the difference between a successful 2013-14 and another season like this one, both for the player and the team.” [Japers’ Rink]

• John Shannon on the diminished role for GMs in the NHL’s decision-making process: “The influence of the group of 30 GMs is certainly not what it was. NHL executive Colin Campbell has always been very respectful of the managers. He is in constant communication with them, asking for guidance or input. Every once in a while, he will poll small groups of the GMs on certain issues, trying to ensure the game is being protected in the best interest of the 30 teams. But between the NHLPA and the owners, both groups who are much more active in the game now, the shift in power has been noticeable.” [Sportsnet]
