Brendan Gallagher has ‘gross’ finger, needs surgery after blocking shot (Video)

Oh, Brendan Gallagher … we’re pretty sure fingers aren’t supposed to look like that.

In the second period against the New York Islanders on Sunday, Gallagher dropped to block a slap shot from Islanders defenseman Johnny Boychuk and ended up taking the puck off his left hand.

Gallagher immediately dropped to the ice in intense pain, his glove coming off. Hunched over and clutching his hand, Gallagher left for the locker room and did not return to the game.

The Montreal Canadiens defeated the New York Islanders, 4-2.

Said Boychuk on Gallagher’s finger, via Arpon Basu:

“It was pretty gross.”

Well, it turns out Gallagher got more than just a grotesque-looking finger out of the blocked shot. The Canadiens reported that Gallagher will have surgery to fix two broken fingers and will be out indefinitely.

Gallagher has 19 points in 22 games this season for the Canadiens, after tallying 47 points in 82 games last season. Hopefully he makes it back to the Canadiens lineup in a snap.
