Is Brandon Dubinsky’s from-behind hit on Rob Scuderi Shanaban-worthy? (VIDEO)

Brandon Dubinsky has likely earned himself a review from the Department of Player Safety for this hit on Los Angeles Kings' defenceman Rob Scuderi:

In-game, Dubinsky was hit with a 5-minute boarding major and a game misconduct for this hit. When Shanahan and the Shana-vengers review it, will they decide it's worthy of more?

Dubinsky has a defence. We've seen a number of these puck races end in nasty collisions, and it's clear that he takes a few steps to avoid that end here. First, rather than running Scuderi into the boards from behind, or shoving him, which is an insta-ban under Shanahan, Dubsinky tries to hit him from the side. On the reverse angle, you can see Dubinsky glide in, swivel, and attempt to change the angle of the contact.

It also helps that Scuderi stayed in the game. That there was no injury on the play will also serve Dubinsky well.

Of course, the prosecution's case is simpler: despite what Dubinsky may have been trying to do, despite what appears to be an attempt to keep it clean, what he actually did was run a guy's head into the boards at full-speed. That is frowned upon.

So what's the verdict? Will Dubinsky be sitting out one or more? Will we see Shanahan dole out one of those hefty fines he's capable of under the new CBA? Or will Dubinsky manage to avoid disicpline?
