Alex Ovechkin goes favorite-heavy in his NCAA tournament bracket (Video)
President Obama went for two no. 1's and two no. 4's in his Final Four when picking his NCAA tournament bracket this week. Going with some chalk throughout the tournament is all well and good, POTUS, but the reason why it's called March Madness is because upsets are an annual rite of spring.
Following the favorite-heavy strategy of the U.S.' no. 44, Alex Ovechkin made his picks for the Big Dance and had a unique way to determine some of the winners. The Washington Capitals captain didn't use a team's RPI or number of NBA-bound stars in making his selections. He opted instead for places where the girls are "pretty cool" (Ohio State over Dayton); where his fiancee, tennis player Maria Kirilenko, has an upcoming tournament (North Carolina over Providence); using an imaginary coin toss (Villanova over Connecticut); and the fact that Alex in Russian is "Sasha," and it beginning with the letter S means Syracuse will get by Kansas.

Not a terrible Final Four with Virgina, UCLA, Wisconsin and Louisville, with the Cavaliers besting Rick Pitino and the Cardinals in the championship game. Maybe some local bias involved, or Ovechkin liked the fact that they were a top seed.
