Alex Burrows out of Game 4 with broken rib: Report

Alex Burrows has a broken rib, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA.

Burrows was taken to the hospital Tuesday, after the Canucks' morning skate, in advance of their evening Game 4 match up against Calgary. In his tweet, Lavoie notes Burrows is "out of danger." Unsure of what that means, but the details seem to still be coming out, including the how and where of the injury.

Per the team's website:

"We can now add that Burrows was taken to hospital for the upper body injury, there are no medical issues involved. That’s all the information we’ve been given from the Canucks media relations team following Alex Burrows suffering an injury during the team’s morning skate Tuesday in Calgary."

Burrows left the ice in pain and was helped to the dressing room by team medical staff; it’s unclear what exactly happened, but it’s clear he won’t be playing in Game 4 after leaving the Scotiabank Saddledome on a stretcher.

The scene appeared rather frightening per reporters at the Scotiabank Saddledome. According to Sportsnet’s Mark Spector, Burrows said “help” as he walked to the Canucks dressing room. There was also apparently a stretcher that was brought to the locker room and Burrows left the Saddledome on said stretcher per Spector’s tweet.

For a while, this seemed somewhat scary as we all waited to find out if there was anything seriously wrong with Burrows.

Sven Baertschi, who was acquired by the Canucks at the trading deadline from Calgary, steps in for Burrows in what has been a bloody and hotly contested series so far, which the Flames lead 2-1.
