Alec Rauhauser scores sneaky lacrosse-style goal vs. North Dakota hockey rivals (VIDEO)

Bismarck High and Century High are North Dakota high-school hockey rivals. Which naturally makes this lacrosse-style power-play goal from Alec Rauhauser of Century all the sweeter:

Not a bad move … for a defenseman (wow).

Rauhauser had a hat trick and an assist to lead Century to the 5-4 OT win. And, in the process, earn him some local fame on the Bismarck CBS affiliate and from other players.

From the Bismarck Tribune:

The Patriots grabbed the lead on the ensuing power play on a circus goal by Rauhauser. From the side of the net the senior all-stater reached out, lifting the puck on his stick and tossing it backward in a lacrosse-type move over the shoulder of goalie Brett Malkmus.

“I saw that on a video before — Mikael Granlund, this guy from Finland,” Rauhauser said with a smile. “They just let me set up behind the net, and I decided to pick it up with my backhand and go upstairs.”

Is Mikael Granlund one of the most influential players for the upcoming generation of hockey talent?
