White House offers its opinion on Tom Brady and deflate-gate
Everyone else has an opinion on deflate-gate, so it only makes sense that the White House would too.
White House press secretary Josh Earnest shared his opinion on New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and the scandal that has been the biggest topic of conversation in the sports world.
"I do think that people around the world, particularly children, particularly boys, do look up to Tom Brady," Earnest said, according to CSNNE.com. "He is somebody who has a reputation for professionalism. He's somebody who's enjoyed tremendous success on the football field and has carried himself off the field in a way that has earned the respect of a lot of people. And I think that as he confronts this particular situation and he determines what the next steps will be for him, that he'll be mindful of the way that he serves as a role model to so many, not just American kids as you point out, but to kids around the world."
In other words, WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
I've gotten a few emails regarding the devastating toll this controversy must be taking on America's youth, who apparently are shedding a tear over Brady's actions before going back to playing "Minecraft." I respond with something like: "I think it's a good opportunity to tell kids that if someone ever over-punishes them based on shaky evidence, it's OK to stick up for yourself." I deal in life lessons, too.
Now we know what the White House thinks of Brady (who was absent from a White House visit for the Patriots earlier this offseason). We have had a senator grandstand and try to drag the Redskins' nickname issue into this.
So even as we get further removed from the NFL's punishment, the opinions will continue.
