Robert Griffin III, Jay Cutler headline Week 14′s injury roundup

We begin our injury roundup with Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, who suffered a right knee injury during the game-tying drive in the fourth quarter of a 31-28 overtime win over the Baltimore Ravens. On Sunday night, the first-round pick out of Baylor underwent an MRI, which the team announced shows no ligament damage. Griffin's status for next Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns will be determined later in the week. If Griffin is unable to play, fourth-round pick Kirk Cousins would make his first NFL start.

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler suffered a neck injury during his team's 21-14 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Cutler was hit in the head by Vikings defensive end Everson Griffin with his head snapping back rather violently. Despite the hit, Cutler would remain in the game for several plays, which is surprising considering the veteran missed a game in the middle of last month due to a concussion.

Other injuries we'll be monitoring this week:

Bears kicker Robbie Gould strained his left calf during pregame warmups, which thrust punter Adam Podlesh into kickoff duties. Bears first-round defensive end Shea McClellin injured his knee in the first half and would not return.

Not only did the Ravens lose to the Redskins, right guard Marshal Yanda was lost to a sprained right ankle. Veteran Bobbie Williams replaced Yanda and would presumably do so if Yanda is forced to miss games moving forward. The Ravens got good news when X-rays on linebacker Jameel McClain's neck were negative. With Ray Lewis on "Injured Reserve-Designated to Return" and Dannell Ellerbe out with a foot injury, the Ravens were down to first-year player Josh Bynes on Sunday.

The Detroit Lions spent the majority of Sunday night's 27-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers without tight end Brandon Pettigrew, who injured his ankle in the first half. Pettigrew had been second on the Lions with 57 receptions for 556 yards entering Sunday night but did not catch a pass before his injury. Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley limped off the field in the final few minutes of the fourth quarter.

Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson injured his right leg in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 15-12 loss to the St. Louis Rams. Head coach Chan Gailey wasn't sure how much time Jackson would miss, but said the injury was "not looking good."

New York Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara suffered a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter of a 52-27 win over the New Orleans Saints. After missing most of his rookie season, the slow-healing Amukamara has emerged as a starter this season, logging nearly 80 percent of the Giants' defensive snaps. Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks played on Sunday despite a sore left knee, which underwent X-rays following the win. The film was negative, but Nicks will likely be limited in practice this week.

Several Dallas Cowboys were banged up on Sunday, most notably first-round cornerback Morris Claiborne, who left the 20-19 win over the Cincinnati Bengals with a facial laceration and did not return. Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga injured his knee and defensive end Michael Johnson were injured in the loss.

Pittsburgh Steelers left guard Willie Colon aggravated a knee injury early in the 34-24 loss to the San Diego Chargers and did not return. Colon had missed the two previous games with the injury.

Indianapolis Colts center Samson Satele injured his left ankle in the second quarter and was replaced by A.Q. Shipley. The Colts had to insert Jeff Linkenbach at right tackle after Winston Justice injured his biceps. Running back Delone Carter injured his ankle in the second half of the 27-23 win over the Tennessee Titans, who lost tight end Jared Cook to a shoulder injury. Cook made a spectacular 18-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter but finished with just 20 yards on three receptions.

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe injured his ribs late in the first quarter of a 30-7 loss to the Cleveland Browns. Bowe had two receptions for 70 yards at the time of his injury, giving him 59 catches for 801 yards and three touchdowns in 2012, which Bowe is playing under the one-year, $9.515 million franchise tag. If Bowe's injury is serious, his time with the Chiefs could be over as it would cost in excess of $11.4 million to use a second franchise tag on Bowe in 2013. In addition to Bowe, left tackle Branden Albert left the game in the second half with back spasms.

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Brent Celek suffered a concussion on the team's first offensive play in their 23-21 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Eagles are already playing without quarterback Michael Vick and running back LeSean McCoy, both of whom are going through the league's concussion protocol program.

New York Jets second-round wide receiver Stephen Hill will undergo an MRI on his right knee, which he injured in the second quarter of the Jets' 17-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Hill has 21 receptions for 252 yards and three touchdowns on the season.
