RG3 pranks Mike Shanahan at Wednesday’s Redskins press conference

The Washington Redskins have every right to feel confident right now -- after digging themselves a 3-6 hold after nine games, Mike Shanahan's team has rolled off seven straight wins to end the regular season and hit the postseason running. Nobody has done more to make that happen than rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III, who completed 86 passes in 131 attempts for 1,207 yards, 12 touchdowns, and just two picks after the team's bye in early November.

On Wednesday, as the Redskins were preparing to face the Seattle Seahawks in the wild-card round this weekend, Shanahan got an unexpected visitor to his press conference in the person of his starting quarterback.

"Coach, we just wanted to know ... what did you do for New Year's?" Griffin queried, as Shanahan laughed his head off.

"I tried to put a good game plan together, but I wasn't sure how healthy you were, so it was hard without you calling me," Griffin's coach responded.

"You got me good," Shanahan told his quarterback, leading an actual Redskins reporter to ask, "How do I follow that?"

Griffin is recovering from a recent knee injury, and all reports indicate that he's coming along well, but Shanahan is right -- RG3 should have called the poor guy.
