Retirement Mode: Lynch posts goodbye tweet, team offers thanks

ESPN reported early Sunday that Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch had been telling friends of his plans to retire after an even 10 seasons, and on Sunday night, with roughly 10 minutes remaining in Super Bowl 50, Lynch apparently told the rest of the world he's done too:

For a player who has become famous for infamously saying nothing, the tweet is the most Lynch thing ever: no words, just the "deuces" emoji, with a photo of Seahawks-green cleats hanging up on a wire.

While Lynch's tweet was a bit vague, subsequent tweets from the official Seahawks Twitter account as well as several of his teammates confirmed that the running back is done:

A first-round draft pick of the Buffalo Bills in 2007 after a standout career at Cal, Lynch spent three-plus seasons in Buffalo before being traded to Seattle. Lynch played in just seven games this season as he dealt with injuries. For his career, Lynch played in 127 games (114 starts), averaging 4.3 yards on over 2,100 carries, a total of 9,112 yards, and 74 touchdowns. He also had 252 receptions for 1,979 yards and nine more scores.
