It's not generally easy to make the Pro Bowl exciting, but off-field events do conspire at times. There is the case of Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams, who will not play in this year's All-Star exhibit after he was injured in a nightclub fight on Friday night on Honolulu. Sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter that Williams is not seen as a potential suspect in the fight. He required seven stitches after someone cracked a bottle over his head, and he was reportedly tasered during the melee, which involved three injuries, two hospitalizations, one arrest, and assault investigations regarding five people.

When asked by the Associated Press whether Williams was one of the people under investigation, Honolulu police spokeswoman Michelle Yu said: "I would not say that."

Captain Andrew Lum, Office of the Chief, Honolulu Police Department, released this statement on Saturday:

"At 1:30 am this morning, Honolulu Police Department (HPD) officers responded to a report of a large affray at a night club in central Honolulu. Three males were injured during the affray. Two were treated and released from the hospital, and the third male declined treatment. One male was arrested for Assault in the 3rd Degree and additional arrests are likely. The HPD has opened an Assault 2nd and four Assault 3rd investigations. The investigation into these offenses continue."

Williams will dress for the game, will recieve a full player's share, and will be credited for the appearance, lending credence to the notion that the league thinks he's in the clear in a criminal sense. He will be replaced in the game by Minnesota's Matt Kalil, bringing the Vikings' total number of Pro Bowlers to seven.

Williams, who was suspended four games in the 2011 season after testing positive for marijuana multiple times, vowed to turn his life around after that mistake. He played very well in 2012, and was elected a team captain. According to Pro Football Focus, Williams allowed four sacks and 24 total pressures, a low amount considering the fact that he was blocking most of the season for rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III, and mobile quarterbacks like Griffin tend to take more hits and sacks from enemy defenders. Williams did so despite playing through several injuries.
