After pelting Saints bus, Atlanta airport egg-tosser quits his job

Long before the Falcons scrambled Drew Brees and the Saints last Thursday night, someone at the Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport threw a little hot sauce on the Atlanta-New Orleans rivalry by egging the Saints' bus.

Most of the Saints looked on the sunny side of the fracas. The players aren't so hard-boiled that they can't see a little humor in someone tossing a breakfast treat their way. Plus, let's be honest: you've got to have some huevos to challenge an entire bus full of football players. But the stunt didn't go over easy with police, who questioned the employee suspected of the crime. Soon enough, he cracked, and has quit his restaurant job at the airport.

The worker apparently tossed three or four eggs at the Saints' team bus from the tarmac, and while we don't endorse assault, we do approve of the fanbase-building aspect. Shame he had to leave his job, but you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs.

Atlanta managed a 23-13 victory over New Orleans despite the Saints' best efforts at a late poach. The Falcons are now poised for a long run in the playoffs. And if they fall short once again this year, the seat of Atlanta head coach Mike Smith will be hot enough to fry ... well, you know.
