Not everyone loves the idea of Tim Tebow having an introductory press conference with the Jets
At noon on Monday, the New York Jets will officially introduce Tim Tebow as their backup quarterback/spiritual healer. They won't do it in the same place where they have every other press conference, though, because it won't have enough room.
This is because most people get really, really excited about Tim Tebow, one way or another. At noon, you'll hear plenty from people who adore Tebow as a person and a player. For right now, though, we'll hear from a couple of people who aren't so enamored.
The first, via Newday's Bob Glauber, is New York Giants CEO and co-owner, John Mara. He was asked if New York was big enough for his Super Bowl champion Giants and TebowMania. His response:
"I don't know, but the David Carr press conference will be tomorrow, too."
A quality burn. Not that it needs explaining, but just to be on the safe side, the joke is that a franchise as proud as the Giants doesn't have press conferences for backup quarterbacks.

Some nameless New York Jets are supposedly bemused with the idea, too. From the New York Post:
All of the attention on Tebow has some Jets shaking their heads. Several current Jets, who spoke with The Post on Saturday, asked not to be quoted but expressed disbelief at the team bringing in Tebow.
The idea of a backup quarterback having a press conference is something they can't wrap their heads around, and they know it's just the beginning.
Put as much stock in that as you want to. It's someone who prefers to remain anonymous, and it's also, you know, the New York Post.
You can't blame the Jets for having a press conference, and for making it as big a spectacle as they possibly can. His football role aside, and football tradition aside, Tebow gets ink and he puts hineys in the seats. Of course he gets a big press conference. If some other Jet doesn't like it, he can feel free to play well enough to earn himself his own press conference.
