Just skating by: Carolina's Oher gains no traction on Levi's turf

Long before Super Bowl 50, there were complaints and concerns about the turf at Levi's Stadium, which has been re-sodded multiple times since it opened in 2014.

Super Bowl organizers gave assurances that the grass wouldn't be a problem for the big game, but it was. Before teh first half was even over, CBS reported that several players had changed shoes, switching to longer cleats so they could get better traction.

Carolina Panthers left tackle Michael Oher may have been one of those who changed.

From Charlotte Observer beat writer Jonathan Jones comes this Vine, which Jones believes happened late in the first quarter. As one Twitter commenter noted, Michael Oher looks a lot like Boston Bruins legend and hockey hall of famer Bobby Orr on this snap:

The slick turf certainly was not why the Panthers lost, and both teams played on the same poor surface. But there's getting beat by a defender, in this case Super Bowl MVP Von Miller, and then there's this. Oher never stood a chance.
