Jadeveon Clowney's father charged with attempted murder

David Morgan, father of Houston Texans defensive lineman Jadeveon Clowney, was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime after allegedly firing shots outside a South Carolina strip club early Tuesday morning.

The alleged incident took place at the Crazy Horse Showclub in Rock Hill, S.C. and is the latest trouble for Clowney's father. Morgan has had several past convictions and is prohibited from owning a gun.

It is unclear at this time what sparked the incident. Morgan could face 30 years in prison for attempted murder and five years for the weapons charge.

From the Herald in Rock Hill, S.C.:

The victim told police he saw Morgan standing by a wall near the back of the property around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday and then Morgan fired several shots at him, according to the report.

The employee told police he returned fire in retaliation after Morgan shot at him.

Police found Morgan at Piedmont Medical Center with a gunshot wound in the shoulder, the report states. Morgan was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime and will be in court for a bond hearing at 8 a.m Wednesday, court officials said.

The Herald reports that Clowney was told of his father's arrest on Tuesday and is "highly upset."

Clowney is entering his second year in the NFL after being the No. 1 pick in the 2014 draft. He is currently on the inactive list while recovering from the knee surgery that ended his rookie season.
