Greg Jennings, Julio Jones headline Week 12′s initial practice participation reports

We begin our mid-week NFL injury roundup with the three Thanksgiving Day games.

Houston Texans nose tackle Shaun Cody (back/ribs), cornerback Johnathan Joseph (hamstring) and linebacker Tim Dobbins (shoulder) and No. 2 running back Ben Tate (hamstring) are all listed as "questionable" and all four are expected to be "game-time" decisions for Thursday's game against the Detroit Lions, who will be without wide receiver Titus Young, who has a knee injury and was sent home from the team's facility on Monday by head coach Jim Schwartz.

The Lions will also likely be without left tackle Jeff Backus, who has started 186 consecutive games, a streak that will come to an end due to a hamstring injury suffered in Sunday's loss to the Green Bay Packers. 2012 first round pick Riley Reiff will start for Backus. Lions safety Louis Delmas (knee), defensive tackles Nick Fairley (illness) and Corey Williams (knee) and cornerbacks Drayton Florence (concussion) and Jacob Lacey (foot) are "questionable".

Washington Redskins inside linebacker London Fletcher (ankle) and wide receiver Pierre Garcon (foot) are "questionable" for the Dallas Cowboys game. Fletcher missed Tuesday's practice and was limited on Wednesday, putting his 234 consecutive games streak in jeopardy. The Cowboys will be without center Phil Costa (ankle) and could be without center Ryan Cook (knee) and running back DeMarco Murray (foot), who are listed as "doubtful".

The New England Patriots ruled tight end Rob Gronkowski (forearm/hip), guard Logan Mankins (ankle/calf) and first round defensive end Chandler Jones (ankle) as "out" for Thursday night's game against the New York Jets. Thirteen Patriots are "questionable", including wide receivers Brandon Lloyd (knee) and Wes Welker (ankle), tight end Aaron Hernandez (ankle), starting offensive linemen Dan Connolly (back) and Sebastian Vollmer (back/knee), linebacker Don't'a Hightower (hamstring) and safeties Steve Gregory (hip) and Patrick Chung (shoulder/hamstring). Hernandez has missed the last three games after aggravating his ankle injury in October, but is expected to be active against the Jets. Seven Jets were listed as "questionable", including nose tackles Sione Po'uha (back) and Kenrick Ellis (knee), linebacker Bart Scott (toe) and No. 2 quarterback and punt protector Tim Tebow, who has injured ribs.

In the Sunday night meeting between the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants, the Packers have ruled out cornerback Sam Shields (ankle) and safety Charles Woodson (collarbone), while outside linebacker Clay Matthews (hamstring) is considered "doubtful" as of Wednesday, head coach Mike McCarthy said. In a bit of good injury news, wide receiver Greg Jennings (groin/abdomen) was limited on Wednesday, but could return on Sunday. Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw (foot) did not practice, but could practice on Thursday and Friday and play against the Packers. Giants safety Kenny Phillips (knee) and linebacker Keith Rivers (calf/knee) were limited.

The Atlanta Falcons were without wide receiver Julio Jones (ankle) and cornerback Asante Samuel (shoulder) when they returned to practice on Wednesday, but did receive some good news as linebacker Sean Weatherspoon was a limited participant and should return from his ankle injury when the Falcons visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Defensive end John Abraham (back), quarterback Matt Ryan (left finger), running back Michael Turner (groin) and defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux (neck) were limited, but are not expected to miss Sunday's game. For the Buccaneers, cornerback Eric Wright (Achilles) was limited on Wednesday.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith (concussion) was still wearing a black, "no-contact" jersey and was limited in Wednesday's practice. Head coach Jim Harbaugh expects Smith to be cleared medically, but with Colin Kaepernick getting first-team reps, it would be a minor upset if the 2011 second-round pick out of Nevada isn't the starter on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. Safety Dashon Goldson (ribs/calf) and cornerbacks Tarell Brown (knee) and Chris Culliver (shoulder) were also limited for the 49ers. Saints running back Darren Sproles (hand) practiced fully on Wednesday and could return after missing the last three games. Saints right tackle Zach Strief was limited by a groin injury that has kept him out of the last two games. A healthy Strief would be good news for the Saints as his backup, Charles Brown, missed Wednesday's practice with a knee injury.

Buffalo Bills defensive end Mark Anderson (knee) and defensive tackle Kyle Williams (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. To give his ankle a rest, Williams typically does not practice on Wednesdays, but should play on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. Four defensive starters were not practicing for the Colts, including defensive end Cory Redding (hip), cornerback Vontae Davis (knee) and safety Antoine Bethea (ankle). Linebacker Dwight Freeney got the day off from practice for non-injury purposes. Colts second round tight end Coby Fleener was limited on practice due to a shoulder injury that has kept him out of the last three games.

Baltimore Ravens tight ends Dennis Pitta (concussion) and Ed Dickson (neck) were limited, as was nose tackle Terrence Cody (elbow), defensive end Pernell McPhee, linebackers Terrell Suggs (shoulder/Achilles), Dannell Ellerbe (toe/finger) and safety Ed Reed (shoulder). The Ravens ruled out cornerback Jimmy Smith, who underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia last week. The San Diego Chargers were without left tackle Jared Gaither (groin), nose tackle Aubrayo Franklin (knee) and wide receiver Eddie Royal (hamstring), while safety Atari Bigby (shoulder) was limited.

The Denver Broncos have lost running back Willis McGahee for the remainder of the regular season, but received good injury news on Wednesday as cornerback Tracy Porter returned to practice after missing the last five weeks following an incident where he experienced symptoms similar to a seizure he suffered in August. Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas was limited with a knee injury. The Kansas City Chiefs were without starting left tackle Branden Albert (back) and center Ryan Lilja (knee) for Wednesday's practice, while guard Jon Asamoah (thumb), wide receivers Jon Baldwin (head/neck) and Dwayne Bowe (neck/back) were limited.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin (ankle) had hoped to practice on Wednesday, but was held out along with left guard Charlie Johnson (toe). Harvin should play on Sunday against the Chicago Bears, who ruled second round wide receiver Alshon Jeffery out due to a knee that required surgery this week. Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall (shoulder) and tight end Kellen Davis (ankle) did not participate in Wednesday's practice.

St. Louis Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola and running back Steven Jackson were held out of Wednesday's practice with foot injuries. According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Amendola is wearing a walking boot, which puts his availability for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals in jeopardy. Ten Cardinals were limited on Wednesday, including quarterback Kevin Kolb (ribs), defensive end Calais Campbell (calf), and guard Daryn Colledge (foot). While Kolb was limited, 2012 sixth round quarterback Ryan Lindley will start against the Rams, head coach Ken Whisenhunt announced on Wednesday.

The Oakland Raiders practiced without running backs Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson, who have missed the last two weeks with ankle injuries. Defensive tackle Richard Seymour (knee/hamstring) also missed practice on Wednesday, while tight end Brandon Myers (shoulder), wide receiver Denarius Moore (hamstring) and safety Tyvon Branch (neck) were limited. For the Cincinnati Bengals, center Jeff Faine was limited by the same hamstring injury that has kept him out of the last two games.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterbacks Ben Roethlisberger (right shoulder) and Byron Leftwich (ribs) did not practice and will not play on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. The Steelers also continue to be without right tackle Marcus Gilbert (ankle) and safety Troy Polamalu (calf), but wide receiver Antonio Brown (ankle) was able to practice on a limited basis. The Browns listed cornerback Joe Haden (oblique) and defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin (calf/back) as limited.

The Seattle Seahawks got starting left guard James Carpenter and linebacker K.J. Wright back on the practice field. Carpenter, who has missed the last two games, was officially listed as "limited", while Wright was a "full participant" after missing one game with his concussion. Running back Marshawn Lynch (back) also practiced fully. For the Miami Dolphins, backup linebacker Austin Spitler (ankle) was the only player limited on Wednesday.

Coming off their bye week, the Tennessee Titans listed quarterback Jake Locker (left shoulder), wide receiver Kenny Britt (knee) and middle linebacker Colin McCarthy (ankle) as "full participants" on their Wednesday injury report. The Jacksonville Jaguars, the Titans' opponent this Sunday, placed starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert (shoulder/forearm) and wide receiver Laurent Robinson (concussion) on injured reserve and did not have running back Maurice Jones-Drew (foot), fullback Greg Jones (thigh) and center Brad Meester (foot) at Wednesday's practice. Cornerback Rashean Mathis (groin) and safety Dwight Lowery (ankle) were limited.
