Ward left the Cleveland Browns when they signed Donte Whitner in the first hour of free agency.
The Pro Bowler Ward is known as a big hitter and fiery leader and was one of the Browns' locker-room leaders, along with D'Qwell Jackson, the past few seasons.
The Broncos have wanted to get tougher defensively, and this helps them do that. Tom Heckert, who is now in the Broncos' front office, scouted Ward coming out of Oregon for the Browns.
Excited to announce we've agreed to terms with strong safety T.J. Ward. He'll bring energy and toughness to our secondary.
