Denver Broncos give head coach John Fox new three-year contract

The Denver Broncos are happy to have John Fox as their head coach. They showed him so by bumping up his salary significantly with a new contract.

Fox's Jay Glazer reports that John Fox has a new three-year deal, and the Denver Post's Mike Klis tacked on a note about Fox's big pay increase.

There's no sweeter sound for a coach than a ripped-up contract. At least in this case. That typically means they are getting more money.

For Fox, it was a bittersweet season, with a terrific 13-3 mark and a spot in the Super Bowl, his second trip to the big game. But like his first, this one also ended in crushing defeat. The Seattle Seahawks started running them out of the building early, and it never really was close — even with Peyton Manning on the trigger.

Fox also underwent unexpected heart surgery that put him on the shelf for part of last season, but he was ably replaced by defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio and Fox came back strong despite losing weight after the process. He appeared lively and healthy at the NFL scouting combine and spoke about how good he felt.

The Broncos have reloaded this offseason, especially on defense, and the DeMarcus Ware-Von Miller combination could be one to behold.
