Darren Sproles, Aaron Hernandez headline late game NFL inactive lists

As reported by Jay Glazer during FOX's pregame show, New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles is inactive for Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders. Sproles has missed the last two games after undergoing surgery on his left hand. The versatile running back/return specialist returned to practice this week, but was experiencing some swelling in the hand that threatened his available for Sunday's game.

With Sproles out, the Saints will once again rely on Chris Ivory and Mark Ingram in increased roles. Both backs have produced, which has allowed the club to take a cautious approach with Sproles' injury.

The New England Patriots will once again be without tight end Aaron Hernandez, who had been listed as "questionable" with an ankle injury. Hernandez originally injured his ankle in Week 2 and missed three weeks before returning to action on Oct. 14. Hernandez played two games, but aggravated the injury and will miss a third consecutive game. The Patriots will also be without starting guards Pro Bowl left guard Logan Mankins, who had been listed as "doubtful" with calf and ankle injuries, and Dan Connolly, who was "questionable" with a back injury.
