Shutdown Corner

Baltimore responds with its own Ray Lewis-inspired billboard

Last week, Clear Channel Outdoors Boston put up several feature billboards in the Boston area featuring a countdown clock to a retirement party for Baltimore's Ray Lewis, who announced after the regular season that 2012 would be his final NFL season.

Lewis had 14 tackles in the Raven's 28-13 win over the New England Patriots in Sunday night's AFC championship game. After the game, Lewis said he was bothered by the sign.

"I was hurt when I saw a sign that actually said my retirement would [start] tonight," Lewis said in an interview with ESPN. “Man can’t dictate that. God dictates that."

Well, the people of Baltimore weren't content with letting the Ravens' win be the final word. On Monday, a billboard announcing the postponement of Lewis' retirement party to Feb. 3 went up in Baltimore, Ryan Mink of BaltimoreRavens.com reports.

No word on who or what company is behind the billboard, but as the sign states, New England, of course, is not on the guest list.
