Washington State took a hit to its depth at cornerback just before the start of spring practice.

Per WazzuWatch.com, Cougars head coach Mike Leach announced Wednesday that Sebastian LaRue was dismissed from the program due to a violation of team rules. LaRue, a four-star recruit in the 2013 class, transferred to Washington State last January after spending the first year of his collegiate career at Texas A&M.

LaRue signed with A&M as a receiver but moved to defense when he arrived in Pullman last year. After sitting out the 2014 season due to NCAA transfer rules, the 5-foot-10, 181-pound LaRue was expected to compete for a starting role at cornerback for the Cougars in 2015.

Now he won’t have that chance.

The Cougars, who are scheduled to begin spring practice on Thursday, are coming off a 3-9 record in 2014.
