Tweet by suspended Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon indicates he's loyal to the Sooners

When Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon was suspended for the 2014 season because of pending legal troubles, many believed the five-star recruit would leave the Sooners and find another place to play.

But Mixon wanted everyone to know that he’s staying loyal to the team with which he signed.

NewsOK.com noted that Mixon would likely be staying in Norman after he was seen speaking with Oklahoma Director of High School Relations Rajeeb Hossain following a practice last week. Mixon also was spotted in the stands with other students watching the Sooners work out and he was attending classes that started last week.

Mixon was charged with misdemeanor assault stemming from an incident at a restaurant in which a woman accuses him of punching her in the face, and knocking her out. According to the police affidavit, the alleged victim claimed she suffered "a fractured jaw, fractured cheek bone, fractured sinus, and fractured orbit which caused a hematoma on the left eye" as a result of the punch.

Mixon was arraigned on Aug. 18 and is due back in court on Sept. 23.
