Stever Spurrier shares his quotable thoughts on the Ed O'Bannon rulling

Steve Spurrier, champion of student-athlete rights (as long as they’re football players), could not let the ruling in the Ed O’Bannon case pass without commenting on it. So, less than 24 hours after a federal judge ruled in favor of a group led by O’Bannon against the NCAA in an antitrust suit, Spurrier came fast and furious with the quotable gems.

As part of the ruling, the NCAA and its member institutions would be required to compensate players for the use of their likeness in the amount of at least $5,000. While the NCAA can cap this amount, it can’t be less than the full cost of attendance.

Sometimes when Spurrier speaks, his words deserve some old-time Batman cutaways like "BOOM!" or "ZING!" or "OUCH!"

But, of course, he's right. Spurrier has never had any trouble speaking his mind, especially when he feels strongly about something, and no coach has been more vocal about student-athlete rights.

Lucky for us, this is probably just the beginning of Spurrier’s quips considering this ruling will likely be appealed multiple times over before a final resolution is made.
