Southern's Devon Gales has movement in his legs

Former Southern wide receiver Devon Gales is making progress in his recovery from a serious spinal injury suffered against Georgia in 2015.

Gales was left paralyzed after a hit on a kickoff vs. the Bulldogs and suffered multiple neck fractures. In a video his mother took this week, Gales is shown moving his legs on his own.

"Basically this is just a temporary setback," Gales said when leaving Atlanta's Shepherd Center in February. "But it’s not a setback, it’s another blessing. I know I’m going walk out. I know I’m going to have a testimony that I will speak on."

Gales was back at the Shepherd Center this week for more rehab. When Gales left the center in February, a charity announced that it would raise money for his family for a new house.
