South Carolina took two hits to its wide receiver depth over the weekend.

The program announced that both redshirt freshman Shaq Davidson and true freshman Jerad Washington are out for the season.

According to the Spartanburg Herald Journal, Davidson suffered a knee injury during practice last week that will require surgery. Head coach Steve Spurrier said Davidson will seek a medical redshirt.

"Shaq had surgery on a knee that he had torn a ligament and he's scheduled to have surgery on his other knee in about six weeks,” Spurrier said. “It had also been bothering him. So Shaq needs a whole year to get his knees ready to play for next year and he'll have a second redshirt year this year.”

Per the Herald Journal, Davidson previously had surgery for a torn left ACL as a high school sophomore and also “had the knee scoped to clean out some loose fragments” last summer.

Davidson was listed behind redshirt freshman Deebo Samuel and senior Shamier Jeffery on the Gamecocks’ preseason depth chart.

Elsewhere, the program announced that Washington broke his leg during Sunday afternoon’s practice. Washington, a true freshman from Jacksonville, Fla., enrolled early at the school in January and was also listed third on the depth chart alongside Davidson.

Washington's father said on Twitter that his son was having surgery.

The Gamecocks open up against North Carolina in Charlotte on Thursday night.
