SEC championship rings remind LSU it’s second best

The 2011 LSU Tigers will always remember it finished second thanks to rings that were meant to commemorate the Tigers' stellar season but may in fact just be pouring salt in a still open wound.

LSU players received rings for winning the SEC championship. However, one side of the ring boasts "#2 NATIONALLY" for their season finish in the national polls.

In most years a team would be proud of that accomplishment, but for LSU the engraving has to sting a bit. This was a team that was No. 1 nationally and was 60 minutes away from an undefeated season. However, in the national championship, the Tigers lost to Alabama, a team they had already defeated earlier in the year, and consequently the Crimson Tide jumped the Tigers for the top spot.

So while LSU should be proud of its fantastic season, it also has to be thinking of what might have been.

And now the players will have the jewelry handy to constantly remind them.
