Reports: Former Georgia safety Josh Harvey-Clemons plans to transfer to Louisville
A little less than two months after being dismissed from Georgia, safety Josh Harvey-Clemons has reportedly found a new team.
According to ESPN.com and InsidetheVille.com, Harvey-Clemons plans to transfer to Louisville where he will reunite with former UGA defensive coordinator Todd Grantham.
Georgia head coach Mark Richt booted Harvey-Clemons from the team back in February after breaking multiple team rules. He was previously suspended for a second violation of the school’s marijuana-use policy. In February 2013, Harvey-Clemons admitted to smoking marijuana and was suspended for the season opener against Clemson.
Initially, his second violation resulted in a four-game suspension, which was reported in January. That suspension included missing the Gator Bowl and the first three games of the 2014 season, but then in February it was announced that he would be dismissed from the program.
Harvey-Clemons started 11 games for the Bulldogs last season, registering 66 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and one interception.
Grantham, who accepted a five-year deal in January to join Bobby Petrino at Louisville, often used Harvey-Clemons at the “star” position.
“That star position that he’s able to play safety and outside linebacker and cover the back coming out or able to rush the quarterback … we kind of like that,” Woodrow Clemons, Harvey-Clemons’ grandfather, told InsidetheVille.com.
Harvey-Clemons will have to sit out the 2014 season and will have two years of eligibility to play, beginning in 2015.
