Report: Tulane players involved in damaging fraternity's Trump wall

Tulane football players are being accused of tearing down a wall that supported presidential candidate Donald Trump in front an off-campus fraternity house.

From NOLA.com

The fraternity erects a wall around its private property every spring during the week leading up to its annual "Old South" formal ball. Leadership in the local chapter said members added GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump's name and slogan to this year's wall as satire, said university spokesman Mike Strecker. Other Tulane students, however, expressed a mix of concern and protest over the words, which originated with immigration remarks that Trump made and that his opponents have deemed racially offensive toward Latino and Hispanic people.

The wall has since been dismantled by unnamed vandals. However, Facebook posts and videos have surfaced identifying the vandals as Tulane football players. (Warning: video NSFW)

Tulane’s athletic department referred requests for comment to university executive director of public relations, Michael Strecker, who said the university was still investigating the incident.

However, Dusty Porter, the university's vice president of student affairs, told NOLA.com that while the university "encourages and supports the free exchange of ideas and opinions," Kappa Alpha’s actions — whether satirical or not — "sparked a visceral reaction in the context of a very heated and divisive political season."
