Random offseason tweet of the day: James Franklin unleashes his inner (Nittany) lion

With real games still months away, coaches and players will be tweeting about non-football-related things as the season approaches. In this space, we'll try to find the funniest and goofiest tweets of the day. If you see something, don't hesitate to send it to us.

Penn State coach James Franklin is one of the most active coaches on Twitter in the country and with the Blue and White Spring Game coming up on Saturday, he’s making it pretty clear that he’s excited about the game.

Apparently he’ll be unleashing his inner lion.

As inherently weird as that photoshop work is, as a Penn State alum, I also feel the need to point out that whoever made it used the wrong kind of lion! A Nittany Lion is a mountain lion, not an African lion.

This isn’t the first time this mistake has been made. Running backs coach Charles Huff tweeted out a similar photo with an African lion last week.

The staff has only been in Happy Valley for three months, so I guess I can cut them some slack.

This isn't the first strange thing Franklin has tweeted either. A few weeks ago he sent out two other photoshops of quarterback Christian Hackenberg and tackle Donovan Smith with Nittany Lion logos in their eyes.

Something tells me this won't be the last time we feature one of Franklin's tweets in this series.
