Oregon goes all out for April Fools Day (Video)

The Oregon football program went all out for April Fools Day.

With a news release, photo gallery, video and everything, the school said Friday morning that it has plans to introduce LED lights to the field at Autzen Stadium ahead of the season opener against UC Davis on Sept. 3.

“Already known for having one of the best uniforms and facilities in college football, the field has now become an extension of the Oregon brand. The new field will feature a unique design each week as an extension of the uniform palette,” Oregon’s release says. “The LED field can also be programmed to provide unique field celebration graphics on first downs and touchdowns, as well as delivering crowd prompts.”

The release says the school would have to remove the existing turf, as well as “16 inches of concrete,” before installing “LED lighting hardware and clear acrylic turf.”

“We are always looking for improvement in all phases of our football program.” Ducks head coach Mark Helfrich said, “We continue to embrace innovation and are excited to provide another unique homefield advantage to Autzen Stadium.”

Well played, Oregon. Well played.
