Ohio State loses RB Jordan Hall after cutting his foot while walking through grass

Urban Meyer's first season as the head coach at Ohio State hasn't exactly gone smoothly — and he hasn't even coached a game yet.

Saturday, the Buckeyes announced the 2012 team had been dealt yet another blow as senior running back Jordan Hall will miss 10 weeks while recovering from foot surgery.

Hall suffered a cut to the bottom of his right foot while walking through some grass outside of his residence hall on campus. The injury was so severe that it required surgery and he'll be in cast.

"This is an unfortunate accident to a really fine young man," Meyer said in a statement. "He's handling things well, though. He'll be in a non-weight bearing cast for about six weeks and then he'll rehabilitate the injury for at least four weeks after that."

Hall has 2,513 all-purpose yards in his career and was expected to play a major role in the Buckeyes offense this season.

Ohio State opens fall camp in five weeks and with hall out at least 10 weeks, that means he'll miss the Buckeyes' games against Miami-Ohio and Central Florida. The earliest he might be able to return is against Cal in Week 3.
