North Carolina caps crazy comeback win with game-winning punt return (VIDEO)

It isn't conventional to have a star running back return punts, but nobody is arguing with North Carolina's logic now.

Giovani Bernard, one of the ACC's best running backs and the Tar Heels' part-time punt returner, lined up deep with 30 seconds to go. North Carolina was down by 10 points in the fourth quarter but had rallied to tie the game.

NC State, for whatever reason, punted to Bernard. That turned out to be an inexcusable mistake.

While Bernard's punt return didn't have the artistry of De'Anthony Thomas' gem for Oregon, it was much more dramatic. Bernard fielded the punt, started to his right and turned on the speed, outracing everyone to the end zone for a phenomenal touchdown and the Tar Heels win.

North Carolina outscored NC State 18-0 in the fourth quarter to get the 43-35 victory. Bernard's touchdown will go down as one of the more dramatic game-winning plays of this season, and NC State's decision to kick to him rather than boot one out of bounds will be pretty memorable too.
