N.C. State plants a flag in the state of North Carolina with new billboards

The North Carolina-N.C. State rivalry has now reached billboard level.

N.C. State has posted several billboards around the Raleigh area and entrances to major highways in an effort to declare their state supremacy over their rival North Carolina and probably the state's other FBS institutions Duke and Wake Forest.

The North Carolina-N.C. State rivalry has really started brewing last year as UNC interim coach Everett Withers and Wolfpack coach Tom O'Brien exchanged verbal barbs through the media. However, the Tar Heels really haven't had a lot to brag about in this gridiron rivalry since the Wolfpack have won each of the last five meetings, including a 13-0 win a year ago in Raleigh.

Currently, N.C. State is the only team doing the billboard talking, but if other schools jump on the bandwagon, perhaps it will reach the level of the rivalry in the state of Mississippi in which Southern Miss won the billboard trash talk a year ago.
