Michigan starting center Graham Glasgow facing drunk driving charge
Michigan head coach Brady Hoke announced last month that starting center (and cat sweater aficionado) Graham Glasgow would be suspended for the team’s season opener against Appalachian State, but offered no specific reason for the punishment other than saying that Glasgow violated “team expectations.”
On Wednesday, however, details of Glasgow’s violation emerged.
Mlive.com is reporting that Glasgow will be arraigned on May 19 on an operating a vehicle while intoxicated charge in an incident that took place on March 15 in Ann Arbor. In addition to being suspended by Hoke for the season opener, Glasgow was also suspended for a portion of the Wolverines’ spring practice.
“Each of our young men understands the standard we expect of them,” Hoke said in a statement at the time of the suspension. “It’s one that represents this great program and university, as well as their family and teammates. When their actions don’t reflect that standard, it’s very disappointing, and we must hold them accountable for their decision while helping them learn a valuable life lesson.”
The 6-foot-6, 308-pound Glasgow, a former walk-on, started every game for Michigan last season as a sophomore including four games at guard.
Coincidentally, Glasgow is due in Ann Arbor court on the same day (May 19) as former left tackle Taylor Lewan – a projected first round draft pick who is expected to face aggravated assault, assault and battery charges.
