New Mexico gets on the American flag logo bandwagon

With schools that have a configuration of letters, or a single letter, as their logo, incorporating the American flag into a special alternate logo is pretty easy.

It's not quite as easy when the logo is a mascot's face, but New Mexico is going to try anyway.

A picture tweeted out by @UNMLobos shows a stars-and-stripes design where the typical Lobos logo and helmet stripe go. The Lobos will wear that on Saturday, which is "Heroes Day," and it comes against Wyoming (trying ... to ... hold back ... Dave Christensen jokes ...).

New Mexico is the second school to announce this week it will wear a helmet in this style. Rutgers will also have an American flag theme. Maybe next year all the FBS schools could wear a helmet that looked like this on the same week to honor current military personnel and veterans.
