A little more than a week after LSU defensive tackle Trey Lealaimatafao was arrested, Tigers head coach Les Miles dismissed him from the program on Monday.

“Trey is no longer a member of our football team,” Miles said in a statement. “We have gathered information on this incident and we feel it’s best for us to part ways.”

Lealaimatafao, a redshirt freshman from San Antonio, Texas, was arrested June 19 for simple battery and simple robbery stemming from a fight in the parking lot of a Baton Rouge bar.

Police said Lealaimatafao “dug through the pockets” of a man who had been beaten unconscious and then “punched the victim’s girlfriend in the face with a closed fist” when she tried to stop him. After continuing to “dig through the male victim’s pockets,” witnesses said Lealaimatafao, 18, “fled the scene when authorities arrived.”

Lealaimatafao had previously been arrested for stealing a bike on campus last July and suffered a “serious arm injury” after punching a glass window in the team’s weight room.

Lealaimatafao was a three-star recruit in the 2014 class and didn’t play a down in his only season with the program.
