LB Marcquis Roberts says he's transferring to Kansas
Kansas picked up another big transfer on Monday.
Former South Carolina LB Marcquis Roberts posted to Facebook that he was heading to Kansas.
Thank you to all the schools that wanted me to join their school. It feels like a 2nd chance. I will be playing football and working towards my master at Kansas university. Blessed beyond belief.
Roberts was a fourth-year sophomore in 2014. If he has his undergraduate degree from South Carolina, he'll be eligible to play immediately at KU. Otherwise he'll have to sit out a season.
He's played two seasons in four years at USC because of injuries. He got a medical redshirt in 2011 because of a shoulder injury and missed 2012 because of a knee injury.
He played in all 13 games for the Gamecocks in 2013 and had 48 tackles. In 13 games in 2014 he had 31 tackles. He joins Texas A&M transfer LaQuivonte Gonzalez as a new member of the Jayhawks. Gonzalez, who came to Texas A&M when new Kansas coach David Beaty was an assistant with the Aggies, tweeted he was heading to KU on Sunday.
Roberts was a three-star linebacker out of Georgia in the class of 2011 according to Rivals. He was part of a nine-player exodus at the end of 2014 from South Carolina, which finished the year 7-6 after beating Miami in the Independence Bowl.
