Gus Malzahn and Mark Richt flock to the drawing board to win love of recruits

It’s not enough to dazzle a recruit with innovative facilities, the latest uniform trends and world-class academics, coaches now have to wow high schoolers with their art and Photoshop skills to lure them to campus.

And D’Andre Walker showed off some of the latest creations from the SEC.

The four-star defensive recruit posted photos of letters he received from Auburn coach Gus Malzahn and Georgia coach Mark Richt bidding for his commitment.

Malzahn, as you can see, went with the Photoshop approach and placed Walker’s head on the body of an Auburn player. He added the words: "You look good in orange an (sic) blue. War Eagle, Gus Malzahn."

Richt got a little more creative and broke out the art kit to create a rendering of Walker wearing a jersey that was half his high school jersey and half a Georgia jersey. He added: “D’Andre, Red + Black Looks Good On You. Mark Richt.”

Now, we don’t know whether Richt drew this himself, but if he did, that’s pretty impressive and the effort alone should be enough to secure Walker’s pledge. And this isn't the first time he's sent out drawings to recruits.

Walker currently has offers from nearly 30 schools, including every school in the SEC. He currently has no favorite, but recruiters are going to have to brush up on their art skills if they want to match Auburn and Georgia’s efforts.
