Former South Carolina defensive back Wesley Green is headed to the Big Ten.

Indiana head coach Kevin Wilson announced Monday that Green, a 5-foot-10, 175-pound cornerback, has joined the Hoosiers program. Green redshirted in 2014, his only season at South Carolina, and will have to sit out again in 2015 due to the NCAA’s transfer rules.

Beginning in 2016, Green will have three years of eligibility remaining.

“We recruited Wesley,” Wilson said in a release. “(Secondary) coach Brandon Shelby has a strong relationship with him and he contacted us when he left South Carolina. We welcome him to our program. He’s a talented young man and he will be a quality contributor.”

Green left South Carolina just after fall camp began. According to The State, Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier said on Aug. 10 it was a mutual decision and that Green needed a “fresh start.” Green was listed as second string on the Gamecocks' depth chart.

A class of 2014 prospect from Lithonia, Ga., Green was a four-star recruit who chose South Carolina over more than 20 other offers.
