Missouri is selling shirts made by Chase Daniel's apparel company

You can now buy an officially-licensed Missouri shirt made by an apparel company owned by one of the school's most famous players.

Earlier this week, Mizzou announced a partnership with 10Star apparel, the company owned by former Missouri and current Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Chase Daniel, who played at the school from 2005-2008 and holds many of Mizzou's passing records.

He told Yahoo Sports that to the best of his and Missouri's knowledge, he's the first former college athlete to enter into an agreement like this with his school and we couldn't find a similar venture.

"I haven't (heard of anyone else doing it)," Daniel said. That's what's so appealing to me. We're on the very, very bottom of the floor right now and the sky is the ceiling. There's so many things we can encompass."

The shirts are, for now, only available through the University's campus stores or online store.

Daniel started his company three years ago as a business venture for after his playing career. But as he's entered his sixth season in the league and signed a three-year deal with the Chiefs to be Alex Smith's primary backup, 10Star has grown as his playing career continues.

While he said 10Star worked closely with Missouri over the last few months on the specifics, the process of obtaining a license for the merchandise through the Collegiate Licensing Company took a year. The CLC is the licensing firm for over 200 universities, including Missouri.

"It took so long to get this exactly how we wanted to do it," Daniel said. "We started the process of getting a CLC license last year and it took about a year to get. And we felt we had a pretty good relationship with guys there and it still took a year for us to get through. And once we finally got through it was networking and finding the right individuals within the bookstore and within the university to really hear us out on what we wanted to do and how we wanted to plan it out."

He also admits that his position at Missouri – the Tigers ended the year No. 4 in the AP poll in 2007, Daniel's junior season – helped his company secure the deal with Mizzou.

"I think so," Daniel said. "There has to be something beneficial from the university's standpoint to partner with us and I think that from not only my company's, but the university's standpoint, partnering with somebody that wants to give back as a former student-athlete at the university that's given a lot to the university, that's learned a lot ... I think it's a good fit on both sides."
