Brady Hoke had a good retort when asked about OSU OL coach Ed Warinner's jokes

Well done, Brady Hoke.

The Michigan coach was asked Thursday about the comments Ohio State offensive line coach Ed Warinner made Wednesday at OSU's spring kickoff luncheon. Warinner made a crack about the Rose Bowl and a joke saying he heard some playbooks were stolen and that Hoke wasn't done coloring them.

“Obviously there’s enough people that keep you informed of what’s going on,” Hoke said on Detroit's WTKA-AM. “The one thing around here is we try and always stay in between the lines. That’s important with how you handle your program.”

It's a subtle jab, but sometimes subtle digs are the best. You can't always use the sledgehammer when it comes to rivalry trash talk.

As we said Wednesday, Warriner was off-base with his Rose Bowl joke to begin with. The Wolverines have been to Pasadena more than Ohio State has. But the coloring book joke wasn't bad at all. And Hoke's response was even better.

Hopefully this carries over throughout the rest of the offseason. Just think if Michigan would have converted the two-point conversion at the end of the game in 2013 to stop Ohio State's then-undefeated season?
