Boise State has named Ryan Finley its starting quarterback, coach Bryan Harsin announced in a press conference Sunday.

Finley was the backup Grant Hedrick a year ago and was the only quarterback on the Boise State roster with experience. He emerged as the favorite in spring football, however, his status as the potential was put in jeopardy when he was arrested in April on charges of misdemeanor alcohol and resisting arrest.

Even though Finley’s court date is still pending, Harsin has maintained that Finley will not face a suspension for his actions.

Finley, who is 6-foot-4, 200 pounds, played sparingly a year ago, but was 12-for-27 for 161 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in 2014. The bulk of Finley’s playing time came against Air Force when spelled Hedrick after the first half.
